Winner of the Kickstart your Business Grant & Mentoring Program Announced!

The past few weeks have been pretty hectic for the Forming Circles’ team.  Not only have we launched our new Written Portraits website www.writtenportraits.com.au, but also we have offered our 1st ‘Kickstart Your Business Grant’.  With the help of our inner circle of mentors we were able to extend the cash prize to also include a ‘Full Circle Mentoring Program’.

Our thanks and gratitude for donating their time and expertise to the winning business goes to mentors Kim McGuinness of Network Central, Janine Garner of LBD Group, Melissa Browne of A+TA and Lee Ussher of Buzz Web Media. With the total value of this grant and mentoring package to over $10,000 we are hoping to create the ripples of change for the grant recipient.

As soon as the grant was launched, we were overwhelmed by the amount of businesses that applied. We were also amazed by how many organisations shared the grant information and with their help, received over 300 applications from across Australia. And so began the difficult task of selecting the highly commended businesses (40 in total) from which 11 finalists were selected for the mentors to make their final decision.

Cobra Chilli Pty Ltd

It was a monumental task to choose only one business for our grant, but ultimately we had to make the decision. The big factors that swayed the mentors with their choice were the storytelling by entrants and the ability to convert the $5000 towards enhancing their business.

We are very proud to announce that the recipient of Forming Circles $5000 Kickstart Your Business Grant and Full Circle Mentoring Program is…

Mountain River Yoghurt is a family business and the creators of Tasmania’s only pot set yoghurt, winning two gold medals for the 2013 Tasmanian Fine Food Awards.

Barbara, one of the owners wrote:-

‘$5000 goes a long way. We currently hand make the yoghurt. Every single step of the process is labor intensive and it takes two people from 730am in the morning when we go to the farm to collect the fresh milk, right through to 11pm that night to make 140kg of yoghurt! Insane… $5000 would mean we could upgrade our “pots and pans” technology to steam jacketed kettles which would almost half the production time. The money would also stretch far enough to upgrade our delivery vehicle, our accounts/invoice system and buy some stock in bulk quantities.

CONGRATULATIONS and we cannot wait to see the changes that our mentors and their networks will create for this very inspirational business.

HUGE thanks to all the businesses that applied for the Kickstart Your Business Grant & Mentoring Program. We are very excited to share that our next $5000 Business Grant & Mentoring Program will be released in July 2014.
