Mahatma Gandhi once said, “You must be the change you wish to see in the world.”
For the last few months, Forming Circles has been in the midst of one of its biggest change to date – the evolution and relaunch as Forming Circles Global (FCG) – a unique angel investment and mentoring organisation supporting women-led or founded startups and small businesses.
Coming to Australia as a refugee from Slovakia at the age of 19 with just $20 in my pocket, I know the importance of chasing the dream and working smart to succeed. Gaining financial confidence after the successful sale of a startup helped me realise the significance of giving other innovative and brave women in business the support and platform to rise and shine.
Since the launch of Forming Circles in 2011, my vision has been to advocate the financial empowerment of women through education, collaboration, mentorship, grants and investments that support the growth of ideas, innovation and economic opportunities. I realised this vision by investing over $2 million in over 100 companies, organisations, individuals and causes to help bring about the change I want to see in a world.
Today, as we evolve to our next phase of growth, FCG through its newly launched Fund will continue to invest in and amplify women-led startups, enterprises and small businesses. Through intuitive investments, annual business grants, social enterprise support and sponsorships, FCG will be at the forefront of supporting Australian business achievements and driving innovation globally.
Our new logo comprising crescent and full moons illustrates the journey from funding, to achievement and successful business exit. The crescent moon represents the fund and the full moon the exit of the business. The reflection represents how we work collaboratively, helping each other achieve our goals.
One of the most fundamental pillars of FCG is our Founders Circle – a group of individuals who challenge the status quo and push boundaries to introduce progressive change. FCG’s Founders Circle will include the next generation of investors who, individually and as a group, support the growth and culture of startups.
As we continue with our investments, I look forward to including more like-minded individuals in our Founders Circle – so we can collaboratively shape a better future for women and give other big dreamers the opportunity to achieve.
Thank you for being part of our journey so far. We welcome you to be involved with the change FCG is bringing about in the world of women entrepreneurs. And, as we play an active role in creating opportunities, we look forward to sharing this exciting phase with you.
